I emailed some of you regarding the information contained below. If I missed any of you and you're reading this now, please email me at [email protected].
I have just put up the Mathletics homework for Week 4.
Also, there was some confusion re. spelling homework last week. Please disregard last week's spelling sheet which was a one off. From now on, I will ask students to do two activities, week about.
One week (this week), they will do a sheet which requires them to separate sounds and syllables for each word. I would like them to do this once per night please with their list, using different coloured pencils to break up the sounds. We call this Rainbow Sounds at school, eg. in the word bright, there are 6 letters but only 4 sounds -
for example in the word b-r-igh-t - each sound would be a different colour.
If the word has only one syllable, like "bright", instead of doing a second line of syllables, they can do rainbow sounds again. IF there are 2 or more syllables, break up the syllables using colours,
eg. syll - a - ble
I have put a copy on the website under "Homework."
They should glue these sheets into their homework books.
Other weeks, I want them to do Look Say Cover Write Check at least twice for their list on a ruled up page in their homework exercise books. Just get them to separate the page into halves or thirds and do the list.
